106/609 Squadrons:  About Our Sub-Group

Since 2008, Northern Forties has discovered the popularity of RAF re-enactment, and has attracted a number of like-minded individuals with a passion and commitment to portray wartime RAF aircrew and ground personnel.

When our initial RAF section came into being, it was decided to represent 106 Squadron of Bomber Command.

In order to more widely represent the RAF, it was decided that we would also feature a fighter squadron as well, particularly in the light of the 70th anniversary of the Battle of Britain in 2010. The squadron selected was 609 (WR) Squadron of the Auxiliary Air Force.

This means that our group can welcome RAF re-enactors who want to do either bomber or fighter crew.

We are a friendly group of individuals who are putting together a growing collection of RAF memorabilia.  We are looking for new members who would like to join us putting on displays at the many events we attend with our parent group, Northern Forties.  We welcome both male and female members.
